Slumach and the Lost Creek Mine

Slumach was an elderly Native man who once lived where the Pitt River flows out of Pitt Lake. In 1891 he was hanged in New Westminster for the murder of a man known as Louis Bee. Today, legends of epic proportions involve Slumach in rich gold findings in the mountains around Pitt Lake and multiple killings. Many still go searching for the "Lost Creek Mine" in the mountains of Pitt Lake.
