Nestled in the southwest corner of the Fraser Valley, Delta is bounded by the Fraser River to the north, the Georgia Strait to the west, Boundary Bay to the south, and the city of Surrey to the east. The municipality is divided into three main urban communities: Ladner, Tsawwassen and North Delta. Historically, Delta has been a farming and fishing community. These activities remain an important part of the economy and help to retain a rural charm only 30 minutes from downtown Vancouver. Fresh fish can be purchased straight off the boats in Ladner Harbour, and many farms offer "you pick" berries and vegetables. A mosaic of industrial complexes, agricultural and fishing enterprises, modern residential areas, parklands and leisure facilities, Delta has come of age without neglecting to preserve the treasured history of its early days. The Delta museum in Ladner village has captivating exhibits to explore, while the Deas Island Regional Park is home to lovingly restored buildings, including the ornate Victorian Burrvilla and the old Agricultural Hall, all having had an important place in Delta's fascinating history.
