The District of Hope is situated at the crossroads of four major highways at the eastern end of the fertile Fraser Valley. The community acts as the gateway to the Lower Mainland and is a service centre for the area. To the west and south are found the unincorporated areas of the Fraser Valley Regional District including Popkum and Bridal Falls along Highway 1 and Agassiz and Harrison Hot Springs along Scenic Highway 7. To the north, along Highway 1 are Yale & Hell's Gate and to the east, along Highway 3, is Manning Park. Located at the junction of the Coquihalla and Fraser Rivers, and flanked by mountains on three sides, the town occupies a relatively level space which separates the Coast Mountain Range from the Cascade Mountain Range. The Hope Highway 1 earthwork sign, which welcomes travellers just east of the town, is shown below. This wonderful rural community is home to 7,000 people. They work in the tourism, construction, forestry and service industries. Credit: Hope Chamber of Commerce
