The City of Richmond Archives identifies, collects and preserves records of archival value to the Richmond community and holds them in trust for future generations. It is the official repository of all inactive public records of permanent value to the City of Richmond including books, documents, maps, drawings, photographs and letters. It collects personal records of elected officials and community members as well as the records of organizations and businesses that reflect the social, political and economic life of Richmond.
The Archives also collects photographs, films, video tapes, maps, plans, drawings, paintings, sound recordings and published material including books and pamphlets relating to community history. Credit: City of Richmond Archives.
