Home Christians Bible Conference Surrey, BC – Fraser Valley Christian Fellowship is hosting a conference July 14-16, 2006, at St. Michael’s Church, 12996 60th Ave., Surrey, BC. The purpose is to encourage informal, home-based Christianity and personal bible study. The theme is “The Living Word of God.” “Many people have quit going to church,” says Gord Coulson, one of the conference organizers. “We say to these people: don’t give up on Christianity! Many in our fellowship have been where you are now. You don’t have to go to church if it isn’t working for you or you’ve had bad experiences there. You can meet with your friends in the privacy of your own home instead—just like the early Christians. God is not picky about venue—it’s our heart He’s after.” Lewis Hrytzak, formally a senior executive in a large international religious organization, says that, “Many questionable church traditions and doctrines have been handed down to us, and unfortunately, are often accepted uncritically. We encourage people to verify what they believe with their own bibles and to ask questions. And that’s exactly what we’ll be doing at this conference. Each public sermon is followed by a discussion period, and this keeps us honest.” The bible conference will host several speakers from across Canada and the U.S. Duncan Heaster, a missionary in Eastern Europe and the Middle East will recount his experiences bringing the Gospel to Muslims. The conference will also have group bible studies, discussions, singing and testimonies. Meals will be provided by voluntary donation. Attendance is open to the public and there is no registration fee. The conference starts Friday, July 14th at 6pm and ends Sunday, July 16th at 2:45pm. Fraser Valley Christian Fellowship is an informal association of Christians in the Fraser Valley and Lower Mainland areas of British Columbia. Their objective is to promote informal, home-based Christian fellowship and the pursuit of biblical truth. More information can be found at www.homechristians.net.
