Now in its 14th year the FVBEF has become a highly anticipated annual event and during the third weekend in November works with 15 individual sites to offer a wide variety of activities and adventures from Mission to Chilliwack. The area hosts North America's third largest population of over-wintering bald eagles, arriving to feast on the remains of salmon spawning in the Harrison and Fraser Rivers. Well over 1000 of the majestic birds have been counted perched high in the cottonwood trees and soaring overhead searching for their next meal in the Chehalis Estuary. 2009 Highlights include, jetboat eco tours, walking tours, an ancient aboriginal village site, Kilby Historic Site, A "Green Expo", Live Raptors, Vancouver Zoo, Expert Speakers, Eagle Viewing Sites, Heronry, Vendors, Souvenirs & variety of delicious meal options. The festivities go on rain or shine and will take you into some of the most beautiful and special areas of the Fraser Valley.
