MEMORIAL PARK
|
Hope, downtown, 3rd Avenue and Wallace Street.
Open: Dawn to Dusk.
Set among huge evergreens, the park contains a ball diamond, a playground, a bandstand, picnic tables, many woodcarvings and a Japanese Garden.
The Japanese Friendship Gardens were created as a reminder of the 2300 Japanese Canadians who were interned at the Tashme Camp during World War II. Tashme was located 20 kilometres east of Hope on Highway #3.
The Park is central to accommodation and shopping. During July and August there is live entertainment on Thursday evenings.
